You guys, I am so excited to bring you this! I haven't tried it out yet, but I think it's pretty good! Have you ever been completely stumped (like me!) about what kind of glue to use on a homemade envelope? It's gotta be permanent glue, of course, but not something that's sticky right away. Something you can moisten later and make it permanently sticky THEN is ideal, right?

Well I found this awesome link to an article on using gelatin to make the kind of glue that's perfect for envelopes! So the next time you reeeeaally want to make your own perfectly matched, adorable envelope, give this a try!

It's a Girl!

Wendy Kait, my neice, was born today a little after noon following a short and easy labor. She is 7 lb, 10 oz., and her parents, Tamah and Jacob, are so excited. She has many family members that have eagerly anticipated her arrival and we are so happy and proud!

What I've Learned: Multi-Cut

I'm sure we've all been through that situation where we're cutting something very delicate, very detailed, with sharp corners or curves, all with our sharp blade and very sticky mat, and the paper rips in a very unattractive way. It took me quite a while to realize that the perfect solution to this is: MULTI-CUT! When the paper/machine is giving you mega problems, do this:
1. If you're using SCAL, click "Cutter" on the top of the program, find "Multi-Cut", and choose 2, 3, or 4 times. Use this same menu to turn it back off when you're done.
2. If you're using a cartridge, press the "Settings" button on your machine, and press "Ok" until you reach the Multi-Cut menu. Use the arrows to choose a number, and press "Settings" again to exit. Be sure to press the "Multi-Cut" button on the machine and make sure it's lit up when you want it to multi-cut.

The last thing, and the most important part (!!!), is turn down the pressure to "Minimum" or "Low".

The idea behind this is that the blade is going to barely press down on the paper as it cuts, and as it goes through the design multiple times, it will slowly cut its way through the entire thickness of the paper, instead of taking it all at once, pushing too hard, and ripping the paper,

Now a lot of you may know this already (Don't laugh!), but it took me a while to get this, and I hope this comes in handy for you newbies like me. :-)

Okay, sooo apparently the link was pointing to the image of the file and not the actual SVG, but I fixed it. Sorry about the trouble!

So, I'll have my desk in a couple of days! I'll be sanding and painting it, and then I'll be working to organize everything. Then, I'm sure I'll want to use it to work. So before I get into that mode, here's a file for you today!

To me, the fleur-de-lis represents history, the French aristocracy of long ago. It represents New Orleans, plantation homes and bayous. It represents Louisiana. It represents my home.

In the colors of Mardi Gras and LSU, I made this fleur-de-lis for you, because I love what it means to me! It's in two layers if you want to really make it fancy. If not, you can just use the top layer. I hope you enjoy it!

Desk in Progress!

For many months now, I've known exactly what I wanted in a crafting desk. Actually, it's rare that I don't have at least some idea of what I want, and in most cases, I can tell you exactly what I want! Does that make one a confident person? There are probably other things that go into it...but anyways!

I drew a picture of how I wanted the desk to look. (It's a pretty big desk!) Here are pictures of the drawings:

The rectangles will have one adjustable shelf in them each, and they'll be stacked on each other with the desk surface and the top shelf that goes all the way across on top! If that doesn't make any sense, just wait until it's done, and you'll see, LOL. I've been sooo excited the past couple of days!

Superman Symbol

I love superhero movies, and I did really enjoy Superman Returns! He's the first, the king of them all! The Superman symbol is so well recognized, it's even used for things that have little to do with the character. This one has three layers, and you can use only the red, the red and the blue, the red and yellow, blue and yellow....so many combinations here. Have fun!

Monster Mash

Lately, I've been feeling a bit discouraged by my severe lack of desk, and I haven't been crafting. It's made me a bit sad though, and I missed doing it. So, I pushed myself to finally finish something, and here's what I came up with. (I'm so lazyyy!!)

The layout features pictures of my sister at a Halloween party. (You can click on the image to view it larger.) First, I cut the spiderweb background. It looks a lot like the Martha Stewart border punches, but it's actually cut with the Cricut! Ha! That machine is such a money-saver. You can find the files to cut your own spiderweb background here. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and you'll see the files.

So then! I cut some photo mats, tore the edges with a tearing ruler, and I just used cotton swabs and a black ink pad to make the mats look dingy. I cut the title, used a piece of scrap paper to go across the middle of the page, and I finally got out the packet of jewels I bought a while ago and embellished the title bar.

(You can get 135 multi-colored jewels from Wal-Mart in a little baggie for about $3! It's a great deal! They're in the kid's crafts section! Go get some! In my Wal-mart, they're like one aisle over from the scrapbooking section, and they have scrapbooking jewels too. You can get about a quarter of the amount for about twice the price.)

Hooraaaaayyy for my first-ever blog award from Mommy Mel at Mommy Mel's Addiction. I've been eagerly hoping for the day that lots of people would be reading and enjoying my blog, and this makes me feel like it's here! Thank you, Mel!
The award rules are that I must tell you ten things that make me happy, and then give the award to five people. The first sounds super fun, because I do really enjoy sharing my personality and my interests with others. Then, I get to extend compliments to other bloggers in the form of this award. SO it's really neat!

1. My joy, my happiness, my hope for the future all come from God first. I could never be happy without Jesus, so He comes first!
2. My fiance makes me very happy. We have such a deep, strong relationship, and total trust and loyalty in each other. I love him more than anyone.
3. Taking care of people - All of the homemaker stuff that wives do makes me happy. To have my own home, a husband, and eventually, children will make me the happiest I'll ever be. Cooking, cleaning, decorating, running the house, raising and homeschooling children is my dream.
4. Computers - I adore using computers! Computer games, making SVG files, keeping in touch with friends and family, using the internet to explore, research, and learn, listening to music, watching movies and TV online (Wow!), blogging, using the computer to enable my crafting....Sooo many amazing uses for the computer. It's by far the most useful tool ever created, and it has blessed me in so many ways. I even met my fiance on the computer!
5. Crafting - As I've said before, I have a cute addiction. There is so much cute in paper-crafting. I think my favorite part about it is the paper. The paper just really gets me every time, and I have to have it! But there's so many other things too that really get me, and I could go on and on about it!
6. Children - Kids are awesome. I think the most amazing thing anyone can do with their life is to raise a child to be a Christian, responsible, loving person with integrity and character. It's the hardest job there is, and yet the result is so important that it makes it all worth it, and there's no greater gift to give the world.
7. Dance - I haven't been able to dance in a long time, so I live vicariously by watching others do it on TV, but I do love to dance. Someday I hope to be able to take lessons and learn new things, because personal growth is so gratifying to me. I love to learn!
8. Movies - I am a big, big movie fan! My favorite genres are classic, action, superhero, fantasy, animated, and science fiction. I adore old Hollywood and all its glamor and beauty. Classic films from the 30's to the 60's represent a very special part of movies to me. Animated movies are awesome, because I love the innocence of those movies that aren't muddied by a lot of the things that are put into the more grown-up movies .And I've never been the type to really like romance movies; I much prefer "guy" movies. Do you know what I mean?
9. TV shows - I know it might seem silly, but I really look forward to and enjoy my favorite shows! I've seen so many things that I think I've learned a lot from seeing different people, different places.
10. Food - I love being adventurous when it comes to food. I love eating it, learning how to make it. I love trying food from all over the world. I know that I love sushi from Japan, gyro sandwiches from Greece, tortilla soup from Mexico, orange chicken from China, and spicy Thai soup from Thailand. I can't wait to try Indian food, and I really want to make sushi one of these days.

A Flower A Day Series

Well, that's the conclusion of the Flower A Day series. I hope you really liked it! It was a big help to me to have that going while I got life a bit more in order. Hopefully, things have calmed down and will continue in that direction.
One thing I wanted to bring up is that a lot of the flowers have many layers; some have more than others. If you like a flower, but you want it to be a bit easier to put together, it's super easy to turn off one or two layers in SCAL and make it simpler. That was something I tried to keep in mind, and I hope you try it out. It gives even more options!

Stamping Tutorials

I'm not sure how many of you are fascinated with the idea of stamping, but I've been trying to get my head (and my bank account) around the idea. I've posted before how much I love these cards from All the Things I Love, but I just couldn't figure out how she did many of those things. Well, I found this AMAZING tutorial blog about projects in this exact style. Specifically, I found this one and this one related to shading, the one part that scares me the most! (I want my stuff to look that awesome! Holy woa!) If you're interested enough, you can go through the whole blog and find other shading tutorials, various crafting projects (recipe folders, gift tubes, memo holders, shadow-box cards, etc.), and tons of techniques to learn and grow. I hope this interests you!

My dad came home from the hospital today, and is dozing off in his recliner at the moment. I saved these for a rainy day, and I do believe I'm upon it.

I found and revamped this large flower pack, and once a day, I'm going to post a new flower until they all run out. Spring will be here before we know it, and I believe you can never have too many flowers. Layered as usual, for your convenience.

Time at the Hospital

I've had inspiration lately to make some files and do some projects, but I've spent the past couple of days in the hospital because my dad had heart surgery today. Life will be different for quite a while as he recovers.

It seems there is a (new?) Cricut cartridge with stuff on it for making calendars, and I really wanted to make some cute little version of that stuff for my blog.

Please pray for my dad who has just had bypass surgery. I spent quite a bit of time in the hospital myself after my car wreck, and much longer afterwards recovering, so I do know much of what he's feeling, and I'm sure many of you do as well. Sorry I'm a bit mixed up right now. There's a lot to deal with at the moment.

Wii Fit Plus!

Return of the ME! I am back. :-) I went to Texas, had a lovely Christmas with my fiance's family, spent New Year's over there, spent lots more time visiting with everyone individually. I've been back for a while, but until now had little inspiration to post. However! Everyone I know got a Wii Fit Plus for Christmas! It was awesome! My sister-in-law, my fiance's cousin, one of his aunts! I would play with one, then that person would leave with their new toy, then another would show up, I'd play with it, etc. That thing is so much fun! I want one now! I was inspired to create this SVG for all you people who'd like to scrapbook about your Wii or Wii Fit Plus!

The file is in three layers, one layer for each word, so if you have a Wii but not a Wii Fit, you can still use this to scrap about your new toy! I've discovered that photos of people playing the Wii Fit are great fun! They look so silly and it'd be hilarious to scrapbook. (Video footage is even better, but that's another story!) Hope you like the file!

Merry Christmas!

I will be going to Texas for Christmas tomorrow, and I just wanted to wish you all a very merry Christmas and show you some pictures. I've been having a recurring painful toothache, and Lars' uncle is one of the best dentists in Texas, so it's a trip that's half business, half pleasure. We'll be spending time with wonderful family of his and having a good ol' time! If I have any Jewish readers, a very Happy Hannukah to you as we are in the midst of that wonderful holiday.

Princess Tiana from "The Princess and the Frog"

I've had this in the works for a while now. I had a request for the newest princess, Tiana from "The Princess and the Frog". There are a total of two pictures on the entire internet that show a (mostly) full view of this character. This SVG is a combination of two of them. We (my fiance and I) had to assume the bottom of her dress was a plain curve, because no pictures actually show the bottom of her dress, nor do they show her shoes. So there was a whole lot of guesswork and creative license taken with this one!

The cut piece comes in one file, as usual, but Lars did some things differently with this one. Certain overlapping shapes are cut from the same color, so to make things easier, the pieces are seperated so that one color can be cut all at once. So, even though the file doesn't look like the picture below, it will once it's pieced. The reason we've done it this way is to create dimension and depth in certain parts of the piecing where there would otherwise be none. For example, her face and neck/shoulders are the same color, but they're cut as seperate shapes to start with, so that when you glue them together, you can clearly see the line along her jaw and chin that seperates them from her neck. Does that make sense? Anyway, the light green "petals" that create the top layer of her dress are two seperate pieces as well. The dark color of her hair creates the dark color for her nostrils, eyebrows, and eyes because that part is all one piece. I'm just really impressed with the way my fiance did this, and I'm eager to share with you how great it is!

Snowy Winter Forest (Full Page Cut)

The Nutcracker

My favorite thing about Christmas (and believe me, there are many things I love about Christmas!) is The Nutcracker ballet. You know that warm feeling you get inside duing Christmas-time when you're putting up your tree, when you watch Christmas films new and old, or when you're opening gifts on that special day? I get it a hundred times over when I watch The Nutcracker. It's the loveliest thing about Christmas I've ever seen. The music is expressive, the ballet is graceful, and the Christmas magic surrounding the entire story and performance are amazing. It's set in a time period that also fascinates me with its clothing, architecture, art, lifestyles, and music. You may have noticed that much of the Christmas music playing on my blog is from The Nutcracker. I'm not a big Santa fan, to be honest, and that seems to be the most popular thing about Christmas. I like homemade cocoa, candy canes, Christmas cookies, The Carol of the Bells (my favorite Christmas carol!), snow (which we get about every 10 years where I live), movie classics like White Christmas with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye, and oodles and tons of Christmas decorations!

Princess Aurora's Crown

I know it's Thanksgiving, but we all have leftover projects from last Spring that we need to get done! I spend far too much time on free vector sites finding images I can turn into lovely cut files. (I like to think of it as recycling, LOL.) I found this butterfly and saw the potential! Isn't it so cute!

Word Art!

After hours and hours of preparation, I finally got my act together and created some word art! (My first!) The files are located in my Etsy shop for $2 a piece.

Inspired by the holiday season, I made some art that says "My Cup Runneth Over", just like the Bible verse, Psalm 23:5. That file is for sale at this link.

Next, I made a file that says, "Happy Thanksgiving", and it's got a little Pilgrim hat on one side, and an Indian headband on the other. That file is for sale at this link.

The Little Mermaid: Ariel

After several days of hard work making the SVG, a trip to Michael's for some special paper, and hours of test-cutting, SVG modifications, and re-cutting, I finished the princess from under the sea! The Little Mermaid, Ariel, is finished for you all today. I got a request for it a couple of days ago, so I was re-energized to finish the job and post it, so whoever that person was, I really hope she likes it! For the love of Pete, don't cut the low-detail version out shorter than 5". (I learned that lesson well!) I'm including both low detail and high detail versions. If you're cutting her out at 12 inches or more, it's safe to use the high-detail version. (The high detail SVG would look amazing on the wall!) You must cut this at the minimum speed in order for it to work.

Here's a picture of my test cut:

I used green textured shimmery cardstock for her tail, and light green vellum from The Paper Company for her fin. I think it looks awesome! I also used a purple glitter gel pen to draw the lines on her shell bra. I used Bazzil Basics in "peach glow" for her skin and "bank roll" for her tail. I can't remember the shade of red I used, and I used a regular purple paper I had already in my stash.

Dancer # 17: The Ballerina

Minnie Mouse

Okay, so I know you saw this one coming. I did do Mickey, after all! For her dress and hairbow, I did not cut the circles for the polka dots. Minnie occasionally wears other dresses, so I figured this one could either be a different color, or if you prefer the white polka dots, you can either use a red polka dot paper, or add the dots by hand with a white pen. The SVG itself, when cut a few inches tall, is a bit too small for that much detail. Either way, this one is just as awesome as the Mickey Mouse! Enjoy!

The Little Mermaid: Flounder

Is anyone getting tired of Disney? I never get tired of doing Disney SVG's, so if you guys would like to see something else, feel free to make a request! I just love, love, love Disney! Also, I've seen a severe lack of quality Disney SVG's on the blogosphere. I really wanted to fill that niche! But again, if there's something you would just love to have, send me an e-mail or make a comment, and I'll see what I can do! Maybe if I keep this up, people will feel much better about not buying those overpriced Disney cartridges! I know I will!

Anywayyyy! I found little Flounder on a free vector site, looking very sad. He hadn't been given much love by whoever made him, and most of his lines were uneven and messy-looking. I loved on him a bit, cleaned up his lines, seperated him into layers, and now he feels much better! I know it can be really confusing about what color to cut each layer with these characters, so when you open this up in SCAL, each layer is named by color and part, such as "yellow body", "light blue stripes", and "pink tongue". That should make it super simple to make a perfect Flounder! One of these days, his best friend ever, Ariel, will be swimming onto my blog as well! Have fun with Flounder!

The complete and utter madness of the situation in my room involving scrapbook paper in stacks all over the place, and in every nook and cranny has abated. I actually found that some of my precious paper had little tears on the edges from being stored improperly. Cropper Hopper has rescued me from great peril. What a difference organization can make on one's mood!

Spiderman Symbol and Title

I'm not the typical female movie-lover. I hate nearly all modern romance movies, chick flicks, and very much prefer action and fantasy. Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, as well as superhero movies like Iron Man and Transformers - yes, these are the movies I'll pay to watch. One of the superhero films (and characters) we love is Spiderman.

Today, I give you Spiderman's symbol and title. For those of you with little boys who would be upset if you got the wrong one, this is the variation of Spiderman's symbol that was used in the three films, as well as the font that spelled out the titles of the movies. The title and symbol are in seperate layers, so it's quite easy if you'd like to cut the symbol and not the title, and vice versa. If you had a little boy dress as Spiderman for Halloween, here's your SVG!

The United States Silhouette Collection

As the second post in my Etsy shop, I've created a collection of silhouettes of all 50 states, as well as a silhouette of the continental United States! This collection would be fantastic for a road trip scrapbook, a way to express your love for your state, your country, or as a geography learning tool for children! The state silhouettes would look amazing cut from some of the papers I've seen that look like road maps, or the country silhouette would look great cut from patriotic/American flag paper! Meticulously hand traced, perfecting every point and curve one at a time, and there you have it. I love this one. I can't wait to use it! It looks amazing! I used as few points as possible, so it's not pointy where it shouldn't be, and fewer points also means it will cut faster. It's also layered and ready for cutting. (like all my piecings) So enjoy it, and I would love any comment, because I worked really hard on this. *grin*

Under Construction: Dreams

Years ago, my fiance (Lars) and I were planning to attend a Lord of the Rings: Return of the King movie premiere. We planned to make our own costumes and show up in style. I sewed a dress based on a dress I saw in the movie, wore pointy ears, and went as an elf.

My fiance wanted an easy way out - the simplest costume he could find. He decided to go as a ringwraith (a dark, evil cloaked character if you haven't seen the movies). He wanted to make a black cloak and be done with it, since his project-happy mother had given him bad feelings about hands-on creative projects. He started looking at pictures of the ringwraiths from the movies, and saw they had very ornate, beautiful gauntlets, and a suit of armor underneath their frayed, black cloaks. He got to thinking how totally cool it would be to wear gauntlets like that.

He took some old black gloves, some sheets of stiff, black plastic, and cut out little pieces of the plastic, bent them to shape, and sewed them to the gloves with fishing line. The effect was stunning, even in plastic, and everyone was thrilled with his costume. He had so much fun with this first costume, that he decided, over time, to make a career of it.

His goal now is to work in all mediums - fabric, foam rubber, latex, plastic, electronics, and the hardest of all, metal. He wants to recreate anything you can imagine. For metal, swords, daggers, fantasy blades, medieval armor, armor for horses. For costumes, renaissance, Civil War, sci-fi, fantasy, action, superhero! From all stories in all genres of movies and games - the Alien Quadrilogy, Star Trek, Spider Man, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Iron Man, Babylon 5, Halo, Metroid, Dungeons and Dragons, Stargate, Transformers, EVERYTHING! If you've ever wanted a costume, if you've ever wanted to be someone or something else, he wants to create it.
This past Spring, Lars attended blacksmithing school at Frank Turley's forge in New Mexico. From there, we researched buildings we could set up as a blacksmithing shop. He's gathering his tools, and building up the inside to accomodate the extreme heat from the forge.

Ghoulish Delight

As my entry in the SVGCuts October Contest, I decided to enter a layout I had already mostly finished. I was very inspired by some Halloween paper that I found. (Am I the only one who draws most of my inspiration from the paper? I LOVE paper!) So I decided to make some Halloween layouts for some pictures of my late sister at a Halloween party.

Now, I know pink is definitely not a Halloween color, but there's a reason that it's there. Because all of these pages are for my sister's memorial scrapbook, I am attempting to make it more about her than anything, and I am tying it all together with a unifying theme of pink. Pink was very much her color, and I thought it would honor her to put some of it on every page. This does present a unique challenge for me, as a new scrapper, to fit pink into all of these different themes, but it just felt right.

Pumpkin Carving!

For the first time in my life, I carved a pumpkin! It was tons of fun! My fiance carved a big one, I carved a big one, and then we knocked out the two little ones as a bit of an afterthought, to complete the arrangement.

Candy Series: Reese's Collection

As the final collection in my candy series, I chose Reese's! Reese's peanut butter cups are my favorite every day candy, and See's Candies are my favorite candy for special occasions! (See's is located only in California, and their handmade chocolates and truffles are to die for! Check out Sees.com.) Of course, I'm sure we've all seen E.T., and the mega famous scene where Andy lures E.T. closer with a bag of Reese's Pieces. Reese's peanut butter cups are also a very popular candy. Reese's Pieces do not have letters on them, so if you want those, just cut circles in the proper colors and you're good to go. For the rest of it, download my Reese's Collection!

As I was searching for an image of the logo, I happened to find a vector of it, so I opened it in Illustrator, got it ready for cutting, and voila! Dancer #5

From my collection, this is "Dancer #5" for your downloading pleasure. I did not make this one. I downloaded and converted this one from a different format, broke it up from some other figures, cleaned some of them up, things like that. This SVG, I think, is just plain gorgeous. Before my car wreck, I loved to dance, and still do. I haven't been able to do very many physical things in the past few years, but I have a dream to go back to dancing, and to dance more than I ever did before. I'm still recovering from the crash that nearly killed me. I take supplements several times a day, and I go to the doctor once a month for testing and to update my supplement program. It's been a lot of work up to this point, and I know I have a lot to go, but my entire life has been been built around the idea that you should never, ever give up on your dreams. Does anyone remember the song from Cinderella?

Flower from Heaven

This is the very first page that I made for Tish's scrapbook, and the second page I ever made at all. My sister's name was Mary Leticia, although she always went by Tish, short for Leticia. I was, and still am, quite proud of this one. The sticker at the bottom of the photo says, "A baby is a flower from heaven, sent to blossom here." If the image looks a bit odd to you, it's because this was before I realized using the digital camera to capture my scrapbook pages was more efficient than using a scanner. I had to scan the pages in two pieces and blend them together. But yea, this was my first one!

Minnie Mouse Logo

In a previous post, I offered up a Mickey Logo for everyone to download that looked like this:

Well now I've completed the pair, and created a Minnie logo!

From bottom to top, there is:
- A black layer that includes the head and an extra area that goes behind the bow.
- A white layer that creates the polka dots for the bow.
- A red layer with circles cut out of it to show white below.

When I thought about what I'd have to go through using a pair of tweezers to stick all of those itty bitty polka dots on there, I thought, "No way!", and made it muuuch easier this way.

What I've Learned: Cropping

I talked before about Inks and chalks. This time I wanted to share what I've learned (and am still learning) about cropping photos.

One of my favorite scrapbook supplies stores is Scrapbooks & More in Denham Springs, Louisiana.

They always have new paper every time I go, and I always come out with a stack of it! The people there are so helpful.

I was in there one day, and I found a couple of ladies scrapping at the tables in the back. One was an older woman with short grey hair, and the other was younger with blonde hair. I complimented the older lady on her beautiful two-page layout with a leafy, outdoors theme. She thanked me, and I remarked on how the different sizes of the pictures created a dynamic, interesting display. I told her I had always been afraid to cut up my pictures, for fear I would cut off too much, but also afraid that my pages would start to look monotonous with all the pictures the same size. The older woman said, "Cut them!", and asked to make sure I had them backed up on my computer. I nodded, and she told me to go ahead and do it. The younger woman started talking about her baseball layout, and I walked around the table, and she showed me a picture she cropped from 4x6. She arranged the pieces she cut off around the photo, and the amount she took off from the edges was minute, but the difference it made in the look of the picture, and the layout, was much greater than I thought. I left the shop emboldened, determined to learn from this experience.

Make sure you have all your photos backed up somehow, whether it's through photo negatives, or digital copies. Then, get your prints and go to town! Have fun with the size and even the shapes of your photos. Chop them to pieces, and use what you learn to make scrapbook pages that you love!

Candy Series: Hershey's Collection

Second in my candy series is Hershey's! I hand-drew the individual pieces here, including the logo, the chocolate bar, and the chocolate kiss.

The chocolate kiss has a brown base slightly smaller than the foil wrapper and the slip of paper. The foil wrapper is cut to show the brown background and the highest slit in the foil wrapper was placed there so that the slip of paper can be tucked inside it. I haven't cut it yet, but if you have any issues with it, please let me know. Enjoy the SVG's!

Candy Series: M&M's Collection

First in series of candies, and just in time for Halloween, here's my M&M's candy collection. I worked really hard to get this to look EXACTLY like the real logo.

The collection includes the full M&M's logo, the one "M" by itself, a bag of M&M's (with the pinked edges, just like the real bags of candy!), a plain M&M candy, and a peanut M&M candy. Click the picture to view it larger.

My idea with this was just to give as many options for trick-or-treating pages as possible. If you want to cover your page with plain and/or peanut M&M's, you can! If you want a bag with candies spilling out, go for it! If your child is dressing up as a giant M&M for Halloween, this will work perfectly! I don't know about you, but I just love options. So have fun, and look forward to the next candy SVG's I'll be releasing soon!

A Very Important Project

A few years ago, I had aspirations of becoming a scrapbooker. I collected some tools, some paper, some different things to work with, but I hit a road block, got discouraged, and gave up. I don't know anyone who does any kind of paper crafting, so I found it difficult not having anyone to go to for advice.

This past Spring, my family and I had just arrived at the camp grounds for a family weekend of camping out. We hadn't yet set up our tents when we got a phone call. We came to find out that my oldest sister, Tish, had died instantly in a car wreck just a few hours earlier. She was on her way to the hospital where she worked as a nurse. It was very early in the morning, and very foggy, and someone was going 20 miles below the speed limit on the highway. She wasn't wearing her seat belt.

All of this was especially hard after what happened to me a little over a year before that day. I myself was in a car wreck that was actually far worse than my sister's. I was in the hospital for 16 days, had numerous surgeries, couldn't walk at all for 2 months, walked on one foot for a few months after that, and spent 10 months in physical therapy. I was wearing my seat belt the day I crashed.

After we all returned from the funeral, my dad asked if I would pick out an album for my sister's pictures. I agreed, thinking he meant a simple photo album. We got to the store, and then I found out he meant a scrapbook album. My dad was asking me to take on the very important task of making a scrapbook of my sister's pictures. I was so honored that my dad would ask me something like this, and I agreed.

I gathered up every picture of Tish that I could find. I even got some digital photos in an e-mail from my brother-in-law. Ever since, I have continually worked to build this album for my family. I have worked on very little else. (only a few cards I blogged about for our soldiers!) I seek to honor my sister and make my family happy by preserving her memory using my abilities as a scrapbooker.

So that's why all the scrapbook pages I make and post picture this one woman. That woman is my sister, Tish. She's in heaven now.

Witch's Broom

A major source of inspiration for me is other crafters. I often base my SVG's and my crafts on some great idea I got while looking at what others have made. I found this totally cute bubbling cauldron over at Sensationally Chic Boutique, and I thought it would be so perfect to make a broom to match! I also found that the best witch's hat is over at SVGCuts! Find the witch's hat here. These three SVG's would make the most adorable set of witch's accessories! Oh my goodness, I can just see them being on a scrapbook page for a little girl in her witch costume! How adorable!

Here's the pic that inspired it. To cut, make your base layer white, then build your red, tan, and black on top of that. I suggest a white copic marker or gel pen to make the eyes shine towards the top, and some chalks to recreate the shading. I think it would really enhance the piece! Have fun!

What I've Learned: Inks and Chalks

I'm always learning and growing, especially since I'm so new to this. I hope you'll enjoy this first in a series as I share what I'm learning about paper crafts, from a beginner's perspective.
One day, I was blog hopping, exploring the web, and I stumbled on a blog that had the most beautiful cards I have ever seen, All The Things I Love. I was looking through them, trying to learn from them, and improve my own stuff, when I noticed the reason I seemed to love this one card in particular was the effect the inks had in softening the look of the card. The card can be seen here. The inks softened the edges of the papers, making what can sometimes be a severe change from one paper to another smooth and beautiful. A crisp, clean line can be the perfect look for a card, but sometimes, as I'm learning, I have to consider the effect it will have on my project if I would soften the edges with inks or chalks. Would it add or detract from the look I'm going for?

My Cute Addiction

The first step is admitting you have a problem, right?

After I spent all day making the first set of romantic cards, the next day.....I made four more!

I rarely think much of my abilities, especially in comparison with other things I've seen. There are so many talented people, goodness. I look at some things, and wonder how I can ever make things like that. But I AM really proud of myself, for doing things, and creating things I never thought I would, or could. For trying my best. I'm proud of myself for learning, and growing, and continuing.

And I'm so addicted to cute that I've never had a hobby that I've enjoyed like this (not one I could do on my own anyway). I've never been a crafty person before, not ever. I've made little things, here and there, but I've always just dabbled, and moved on.

I guess part of why I'm so happy is I've always looked up to those amazing women, housewives who are so crafty, so constructive in all the things they do, making things that enrich their families lives like the Proverbs 31 woman. Maybe I'll be like the Proverbs 31 woman some day. :-)

Romantic Cards for Heroes

Several weeks ago, I heard about an organization called Cards for Heroes, which is responsible for accepting blank handmade cards from all over the world, and sending them to American soldiers who are deployed overseas! The soldiers write in them, and mail them back to family members and loved ones! I thought this was the perfect union of a really amazing cause, and a really amazing hobby that brings me so much happiness! The organization has a new name, Operation Write Home, and a brand new website.

I googled the organization, found out more about it, and decided to make some cards!

These are obviously romantic cards, for our soldiers to send home to a spouse or significant other. I had soo much fun making these (I can count the number of cards I've made before now on one hand) that I can't wait to make more! It didn't take that much either! Most of it was scraps and stickers I didn't know what to use for. I want to make Halloween cards, Christmas cards, general cards! I love making stuff! I'm so addicted to cute things. Seriously. Addicted.

You should consider making cards for our soldiers! It's so much fun, and it's so encouraging to them!

Hello Kitty!

Quite a while ago, I found a Hello Kitty svg on a blog that is no longer being regularly updated, Stacy's Free SVG's. I decided to clean up the edges of the image a bit so it would cut a bit easier, and be smoother as a paper piecing. It actually turned out to be my very first paper piecing on the Cricut, and one of these days, I'm going to frame it. :-)

The back portion of the SVG (shown here in black) is an outline, so you'll need to use the blackout feature to make it a solid base for the other pieces.

LSU Mania!

So I finally got around to making these LSU pages I've been planning for a long time! I'm not sure how many of you out there are LSU fans, but around here, LSU fans have a saying to express their team spirit: "I bleed purple and gold!" That motto inspired my latest project - sort of a feminine version of the phrase.

Also, I made an SVG of the LSU logo to use on my pages, and decided to put it up here for your downloading pleasure!

Spider Web

Guess what!? For the first time, I made an SVG with curves AND I used Adobe Illustrator! So that's two firsts! :-)

Lately, SVGCuts has been releasing a lot of Fall and Halloween related material, and it's really gotten me in that state of mind. So, I decided to make a spider web for Halloween. At first, I thought I would make a full page mesh, but I decided it would be so much cuter to make a corner piece! You can put little spiders on it, skeletons, or even a title! I'm excited to use it myself, and I hope you are too!

Also, I opened it up in SCAL, and if you uncheck the "Keep Proportions" box, it deforms very nicely, so you can make it as tall or wide as you like. You can also use the blackout option and give it a nice background. Enjoy!

Gift Boxes

I was working on a Christmas layout, and I wanted to make it pink, instead of the regular red and green, and one of the ways I came up with to do that was to make my own gift box SVG's.

As you can see, you can get them fairly small and they still work, because the cut is so simple.

I used them as a border on a Christmas page. How would you use them? Depending on what colors you use, these could work for any occasion!

I made them in all different shapes and sizes, and with different bows, so you can choose what you like!

This was my first attempt at making any kind of SVG for myself. I found the silhouette on a Google image search and traced it in SCAL. I love Disney so much! I'm a huge fan, obviously, considering I'll be married there.

The Beginnings of a Scrap Space

Okay, so I don't have my own space to scrapbook. I'm a new scrapbooker, so I haven't really established my own space to do this, but that's changing!

Yesterday, I drew up some plans for my ideal scrap space, and my dad and fiance have promised to build it. It's got a lot of desk area, and two tall stacks of shelves on each side.

In the meantime, I went to Office Depot yesterday in search of the perfect chair, and came back with this:

Behind the chair, to the left is the space where my desk will be. There's a laptop there, and my Cricut is on the floor. Hopefully, all of that will be on my pretty new desk soon!

I was looking through some of my photos, and saw a lot of LSU logos in them, so I asked my fiance and resident SVG artist, Lars, to make me a tiger cub mascot for my pages! Here it is, just for you!
